Longevity, Legislation & the Future of Aging: Inside A4LI’s Mission – Episode 272

In this episode of the Gladden Longevity Podcast, Dr. Jeffrey Gladden interviews Dylan Livingston, the president of the Alliance for Longevity Initiatives (A4LI). They discuss the challenges and opportunities in advocating for longevity medicine in the political landscape, the concept of the Longevity Dividend, and recent legislative achievements in Montana. Dylan shares his personal journey into the field of longevity, the importance of data collection in research, and the need for public engagement to support longevity initiatives. The conversation emphasizes the potential economic benefits and moral mandate of investing in longevity science and the importance of collective action in driving change.

With a Bachelor of Science in Physics and a Minor in Economics from Haverford College, where he was a four-year starting pitcher for their baseball team, at only 26 years old, Dylan V. Livingston is the Founder and CEO of the Alliance for Longevity Initiatives (A4LI). This is the first 501(c)(4) organization dedicated to advocating for longevity biotech and the healthy aging field in U.S. policy. Dylan formed the bipartisan Congressional Longevity Science Caucus, promoting key issues to electorally secure members of Congress, with an emphasis on the Energy and Commerce Committee, and led the passage of SB422 in Montana, which expanded right-to-try access, significantly advancing patient access to experimental therapies.

Additionally, he organized multiple Capitol Hill Fly-Ins to build support for longevity science initiatives and engage key policymakers, including hearings planned for 2025, advocated for an additional $500 million in annual funding for aging biology research at the NIH through direct legislative efforts and collaboration with influential Congressional offices, and spearheaded the proposal for the National Institute for Longevity and Aging Research (NILAR), an ambitious initiative aiming to increase healthspan and target the biology of aging.
